Denis Shapovalov v Taro Daniel
Denis Shapovalov made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open last year and the Canadian can outclass Japan’s Taro Daniel. Shapovalov eased past Dusan Lajovic in four sets in his first-round showdown and he has won both previous meetings in straight sets.
Dalibor Svrcina v Yoshihito Nishioka
Yoshihito Nishioka is a model of consistency and the Japanese performer should have an experience edge on Czech youngster Dalibor Svrcina, who required a deciding set in two of his three qualifying matches. Nishioka made the semi-final of a warm-up event in Adelaide and was bitterly impressive in beating Mikael Ymer 3-0 his first-round encounter.
Tallon Griekspoor v Botic van de Zandschulp
This all-Dutch second-round affair could go to Tallon Griekspoor, who clinched his maiden ATP Tour title at last week’s Maharashtra Open. Griekspoor beat Benjamin Bonzi in the final which could be key form as Bonzi had beaten Botic van de Zandschulp in the semi-final in Pune.
Emma Raducanu v Cori Gauff
Emma Raducanu has failed to back up her 2021 US Open triumph oand the Briton looks up against it in her second-round clash with Cori Gauff. Big things are expected of Gauff and, having won her last six matches in straight sets, the American should have Raducanu's measure.
Jil Teichmann v Lin Zhu
Lin Zhu has never made it past round two of a Grand Slam and limited Chinese player is unlikely to break that duck against Jil Teichmann, who is 54 places higher in the rankings. Teichmann made light work of Harriet Dart in round one and should have the answers in this match too.
Danielle Collins v Karolina Muchova
Last year's Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins can tee-up another deep run with a second-round victory over Karolina Muchova. Collins showed great resolve in overcoming Anna Kalinskaya in round one and she recently got the better of Karolina Pliskova and Jil Teichmann in her warm-up event in Adelaide.
