Andrey Rublev v Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic's injury concerns appear to have eased after an effortless 6-2 6-1 6-2 fourth-round win over Alex De Minaur, and the nine-time Australian Open champion should see off the challenge of Andrey Rublev. The Russian has lost all six of his previous Grand Slam quarter-finals and Djokovic, who has won all nine matches in 2023 and dropped just two sets in the process, should stamp his authority on the match quickly.

Ben Shelton v Tommy Paul

In what is a tricky quarter-final to call between two players set to embark on the biggest match of their careers, a lengthy battle could be in store. There have been seven tiebreaks during Ben Shelton’s four matches, with each of his clashes featuring at least one tiebreak, and another looks likely against Tommy Paul, who has seen a tiebreak take place in two of his four Melbourne victories.

Karolina Pliskova v Magda Linette

Two-time Grand Slam runner-up Karolina Pliskova has shown some of her old magic at this year's Australian Open, winning all four of her matches in straight sets. And a semi-final place could be on the cards for Pliskova, who can maintain her superiority over Magda Linette having won six of their eight previous meetings. Linette has claimed some notable scalps at Melbourne Park but it is easy to envisage the world number 45 level's dropping.

Aryna Sabalenka v Donna Vekic

Aryna Sabalenka has barely broken sweat on her way to the Australian Open quarter-final but Donna Vekic, who leads their personal series 5-1, can force her to pull out all of the stops. Sabalenka's poor record against Vekic can't be coincidental but the Belarusian looks to have a different mentality at present. It may take some time but Sabalenka's power can see her to victory.
