AGF Aarhus v Horsens
5pm Friday

The new Danish Superliga season begins with a contest between two teams who survived the relegation playoffs last term but AGF look set to leave that form well behind them in this campaign and can highlight the potential improvement by beating Horsens in Aarhus.

AGF were unlucky last season in terms of the stats where their shots-on-target ratio (share of match shots on target) was sixth-best in the division at 0.53 and above the league average.

Coach Glen Riddersholm also blamed injuries and a lack of continuity in team selection behind the poor results, but the former title-winning boss of Midtjylland knows the excuses must stop following a successful summer in the transfer market.

Riddersholm has not been afraid to say this is his best squad since arriving in December 2015 after the signings of Jakob Ankersen, Pierre Kanstrup, Adama Guiara, Tobias Sana and former Horsens man Frederik Moller.

Morten Rasumussen, who scored 14 goals last season, should provide a decent threat once again this term and Horsens could struggle having lost five of their last seven league away matches.

Horsens are third in bet365's betting to be relegated at 12-5, while in terms of the title race it looks like Copenhagen's to lose.

The champions are 3-10 favourites to retain the crown after last season's romp, although crack centre-back Mathias Jorgensen has departed for Huddersfield, fellow defender Ludwig Augustinsson signed for Werder Bremen and 12-goal Andreas Cornelius is now with Atalanta.

Recommendation
AGF Aarhus -0.75 on Asian handicap
