Match preview

Rangers began life under new manager Michael Beale with an end-to-end 3-2 win over Hibernian in their first game following the World Cup break.

The first of their two matches this week sees them visit Pittodrie to take on an Aberdeen side who have clung on to third place in the Scottish Premiership despite losing 1-0 to Celtic on Saturday.

The Dons managed just two shots and 19 per cent possession in that clash and will need to show more if they are to get anything from this clash.

Jim Goodwin’s side are likely to be more aggressive against the Gers and both teams have found the net in three of the last four meetings between the two.

Aberdeen have won six of their eight home games this season and should be able to get on the scoresheet here, although Rangers’ superior quality should tell as they chase a sixth win in the last eight meetings with the Dons.

Key stat

Aberdeen have scored 22 goals in eight home games this season
