Cardiff have given themselves a real chance of Premier League survival and at the same time dragged relegation rivals Brighton into major trouble after storming the Amex to land a 2-0 success.

It had been must-win for the Bluebirds, who were 1-20 for relegation prior to the Sussex success, but are now 4-11 following goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Sean Morrison.

The Bluebirds have reduced the difference down between them and Brighton to two points, although they are unlikely to bridge the gap further when Premier League leaders Liverpool visit the Welsh capital on Sunday.

There are winnable games to follow at Fulham and home to Crystal Palace before finishing the campaign at Manchester United.

Brighton are 5-2 for relegation and face an horrendous run-in.

They are away to Wolves and Tottenham in their next two followed by a home date with Newcastle that could well be critical as Chris Hughton's side then head to Arsenal before hosting champions Manchester City.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton is 4-1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post in a market where no more bosses to depart this season is rated a 4-11 shot.
