England secured a place in next summer's Nations League semi-finals after a dramatic comeback against Croatia to gain a decisive 2-1 win at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's side were 1-0 down and set for relegation to League B with just under 15 minutes remaining, but will be heading to Portugal in June to compete in the knockout stage thanks to goals from Jesse Lingard and Harry Kane.

England walked off the pitch being quoted at 5-2 by bet365 to win the competition with hosts Portugal at 100-30.

Captain Kane's goal on 85 minutes relegated Croatia, such were the tight margins in the inaugural Nations League, and the Three Lions gained some revenge on the team who had ended their World Cup dream at the semi-final stage in Moscow.

Andrej Kramaric's deflected second-half strike against the run of play put the visitors in front.

World Cup Golden Boot winner Kane, who has been cut to 5-2 by Betfred to win the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year award, and Raheem Sterling had earlier missed opportunities to give England the opener, but they were not made to pay for those moments and relied on good fortune themselves as Croatia failed to notch a killer second on the counter.

Spain, who had been 4-5 favourites to win the group finished second, while England were quoted at 5-2 ante-post.
