Ajax opened their Champions League campaign in July and were still 100-1 to win the European Cup when the knockout stages started in February but the delightful Dutch side are only two ties away from conquering Europe.

Tuesday's stunning 2-1 quarter-final second-leg win away to Juventus saw Ajax swagger past the Turin giants 3-2 on aggregate, proving their bashing of holders Real Madrid in the last 16 was no fluke.

They had to come from behind after Cristiano Ronaldo put Juve in front, although Ajax were never overawed by the occasion and deservedly equalised through Donny van de Beek.

Brilliant teenage captain Matthijs de Ligt powered home a second-half header to send Ajax through and it was nothing more than they deserved following a thrilling second-half performance.

In the process they upset qualification odds of 5-2 and De Ligt is not satisfied with just reaching the last four.

"We have so much potential," said 19-year-old De Ligt with Ajax into 7-1 to win the Champions League from ante-post odds of 250-1. They will play either Manchester City or Tottenham in the semi-finals.

There was far less drama at Camp Nou where Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-0, progressing 4-0 on aggregate.

Lionel Messi scored twice and Philippe Coutinho was also on target for Barca, who will face Liverpool or Porto in the semi-finals.

Ernesto Valverde's outfit are 15-8 Champions League favourites and Messi is only 1-50 to land the Golden Boot after taking his tally to ten in this season's competition.
