Flying Flamengo to continue charge against Corinthians

Hosts can edge a Brazilian Serie A game full of goals

Brazilian Serie A 8pm Sunday

Highflying Flamengo have enjoyed a fruitful Serie A campaign this year, losing just one of their eight games, and they can continue their fine form by taking the spoils against a decent Corinthians outfit.

The hosts have netted an impressive 15 goals this term and have won their last two against Bahia and Atletico Mineiro without conceding, but they could concede a consolation against testing opponents.

Buoyed by their impressive performance in the Copa Libertadores this year, when they took top spot in the group ahead of Independiente on goal difference, Corinthians have failed to net in just one Serie A fixture this term.

They stormed to the Brazilian Serie A title in 2017 as well as claiming their state division title but came unstuck in their last meeting with Flamengo, losing 3-0 in November.

The home side have proven to be one of the most potent attacking sides in each competition they have been involved in this year and 17-year-old Vinicius Junior, with four league goals, can spearhead their attacking charge.

They have scored in all eight of their matches and, having notched the third-highest number of goals in Serie A last year, that trend looks likely to continue.
