An entire World Cup tournament has taken place since the last round of Copa Libertadores fixtures and Cruzeiro could struggle to rediscover their continental form away to fellow Brazilians Flamengo.

The home side finished runners-up in Group D earlier in the year, having won just two matches in the competition, but their league performances give reason to believe they can run away comfortable winners against Group E winners Cruzeiro.

Flamengo are second in the Brazilian Serie A, having won ten of their 17 league fixtures this term, and only Gremio have a better defensive record than the hosts in the division.

Their shot-stopper Diego Alves has eight clean sheets in the 2018 Serie A.

Cruzeiro are locked in mid-table obscurity having fired blanks in two of their last four games in all competitions in what has been a stop-start season.

The visitors followed up their Copa do Brasil quarter-final victory against Santos with a stalemate away to Vitoria in the middle of a run of four games in 12 days.

These sides locked horns four times last season in Brazilian Serie A and the Copa do Brasil, with three games ending as draws and Flamengo winning to nil in their home league encounter. Backing them to emulate that result looks the best move for this continental clash.
