Fired-up Fett could prove a real handful

Mladenovic may struggle

Jana Fett has entered plenty of notebooks this season

BT Sport 1, 8.30am Tuesday

Kristina Mladenovic will be looking for a confidence boost after her disastrous US Open Series campaign, but the Frenchwoman could hardly have drawn a tougher qualifier in the Japan Open than Jana Fett.

Mladenovic made startling progress earlier in the season, but her game all but fell apart in the lead-up to Flushing Meadows as she failed to win a singles outing in Toronto, Cincinnati, New Haven and New York.

Fett, 20, often proves a handful for opponents and the Croat could have a decent future in WTA Tour main draws when qualification does not dominate her agenda.

Goran Prpic's charge, a six-footer who fires down plenty of big serves, looks the type to ruffle some of Mladenovic's feathers in this 8.30am clash and while it's difficult to be confident about who will win the clash, Fett is no stranger to taking matches to deciding sets.

Lucie Safarova is the clear favourite to win the Quebec City title this week, but the top seed could find Anna Tatishvili a tougher opponent than the layers believe.

Recommendation
J Fett to win at least a set
