Magdeburg v Arminia
BT Sport 3, 7.30pm Monday

The historic Saxon city of Magdeburg has faced plenty of struggles since it was founded in 805 AD, and their football team are in for a season-long battle if they are to retain their Bundesliga 2 status after promotion last season.

They winless after four games, with two defeats and two draws, but they are favourites to pick up three points against Arminia Bielefeld at the MDCC-Arena.

While Magdeburg can rely on strong support inside their impressive stadium - their average attendance last season of more than 17,000 was the highest in Liga 3 - Arminia have started the new campaign in better form and look value for an away win.

Arminia have seven points from their first four games, and they will have plenty of confidence in front of goal after beating Regensburg 5-3 last time out.

Frustratingly for Magdeburg fans their team have led in three of their four league matches but those games yielded just one point, which suggests the physical condition of their players may not be up to the level of more established squads in the division.

Stamina doesn't seem to be a problem for Arminia as they twice came from behind before defeating Regensburg with two late goals, and they could again have more success as the game goes on.

Magdeburg-Arminia double result
