St-Etienne v Marseille

8pm

St-Etienne made it three consecutive wins to nil with their 1-0 at Guingamp on Saturday and look value to win the first of a tricky double-header for Jean-Louis Gasset’s men.

Their clash with Marseille is followed by a home fixture against bitter rivals Lyon but they should fancy their chances against the out-of-sorts visitors this time around.

Marseille are winless in their last eight in all competitions, being dumped out of each cup by Strasbourg and Andrezieux, and they are sliding down the Ligue 1 ladder.

Recommendation
St-Etienne
1pt 11-8 Betway

Key stat
St-Etienne have scored in each of their last seven fixtures.

Ligue 1 standings

Monaco v Nice

6pm

Monaco had to rely on 20-year-old Loic Badashile’s penalty shootout heroics to see off Rennes in the cup in their last home game and they could be edged out by Nice with Patrick Vieira fancied to get one over former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry.

Only PSG and Montpellier boast better defensive records in Ligue 1 than the visitors, who can shut out a misfiring Monaco attack.

Henry’s men have scored just 17 goals in their 19 league assignments this season, with top scorer Radamel Falcao having scored only seven this term.

Recommendation
Nice to win by one goal
1pt 4-1 Betfair, Paddy Power

Key stat
Nice have lost just one of their last nine league fixtures.
