Christian Eriksen's smiling face will never be forgotten

Wales performance was much less memorable

There will be no more uplifting social media message during these finals than the one Christian Eriksen posted from his hospital bed, thumbs up, big smile and looking mercifully well.

I daresay we were all consumed with a stomach-churning sense of helpless foreboding on Saturday night seeing, even from a distance, medics trying to resuscitate Eriksen. As harrowing as it was, it was also humbling, truly humbling, to know that there are people with the skill to be able to do that, to actually bring someone back from danger.

Anyway, Eriksen, thankfully, not only survived but looked a million dollars in his photo and that, as I say, will be the best memory any of us can take away from the Euros.

The Inter star will be the first to acknowledge that life goes on, these finals go on, and that means attention being turned to Wales's next assignment against Turkey in Baku.

Watching the Welsh in action against Switzerland at the weekend was an uncomfortable experience too, for a different reason - they were dire.

They are now 11-10 to qualify and untouchable if the one-time best-player-in-the-world-turned-golfer decides on another no-show.
