England expected to bounce back from shock loss to Scotland
Australia series starts at The Oval on Wednesday
England let down their backers at 1-10 in Sunday’s ODI against Scotland in Edinburgh but Eoin Morgan’s men are 2-5 to win their five-match series against Australia which starts at The Oval on Wednesday.
The 8-1 Scots sealed a six-run win on Sunday, having smashed England’s bowlers all around The Grange in a total of 371-5.
Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes are sidelined for the start of the Australia series, reducing England’s bowling options, and spinner Adil Rashid is 11-4 to be the home side’s leading wicket-taker.
Jonny Bairstow scored 105 off 59 balls as England made a strong start to their run-chase and the opener, who has scored centuries in each of his last three ODIs, is 7-2 to be the hosts’ top series runscorer. Australia are 6-4 to make a winning start at The Oval.
Ireland face Holland in a Twenty20 international in Rotterdam on Tuesday while England’s women are 4-11 to win the second ODI against South Africa in Hove (live on Sky Sports Cricket & Mix from 1pm).
World champions England suffered a surprise defeat in the first of the three-match series as they collapsed to 97-8 before Katherine Brunt’s unbeaten 72 dragged them to 189-9.
Lizelle Lee’s 92 not out helped South Africa to a seven-wicket win in Worcester and she is 100-30 to top-score again for the tourists.
England’s top-runscorer market is headed by 100-30 shot Sarah Taylor and 4-1 chances Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont.
