David Miller can extend dream Durban run

South Africa batsman bidding for hat-trick of Kingsmead centuries

South Africa's David Miller celebrates his century against Sri Lanka at Durban

First ODI
Sky Sports Cricket, 11am Thursday

Batsmen struggled on treacherous pitches in the Test series between South Africa and India but the big hitters will be confident of asserting themselves when the five-ODI series starts in Durban.

India have two of the best 50-over batsmen in the world in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma while South Africa's top order is packed with talent even without AB de Villiers, who misses the first three matches with a finger injury.

India's fast bowlers had a confidence boost as they dismissed the Proteas for 194 and 177 in the third Test, admittedly on a pitch rated poor by the ICC.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami could also make inroads with the new white ball so David Miller looks a big price to top-score from the middle-order at a venue he relishes.

Miller's last two ODIs at Kingsmead have produced stunning unbeaten innings of 118 off 79 balls against Australia in 2016 and 117 off 98 against Sri Lanka last year.

The clean-striking left-hander hit six sixes in each of those innings and India must be wary of his destructive potential.

Recommendation
D Miller top South Africa runscorer
1pt 6-1 general
