Cadby could be the man to side with in Perth

Confident Tasmanian is in impressive form

The Antipodean swing of the PDC World Series comes to a close with the Perth Masters this weekend and the trophy might, for the first time, end up staying on home soil.

Michael van Gerwen, last year's winner, is absent and without him these glorified exhibition events have turned into something of a free-for-all. So, once again, it could pay to ignore those prominent in the betting.

Peter Wright was in typically bullish mood after losing the final in Melbourne last week, claiming that: "Perth... that title is for me". However, his scoring prowess has gone missing - no matter what darts he decides to use.

Similarly, his compatriot Gary Anderson has been too inconsistent to consider at a skinny price.

Phil Taylor, winner of this event in 2014 and 2015, has much stronger claims. The Power, champion in Melbourne, has made winning tournaments in Australia look easy. However, he came unstuck in the first round in Perth last year and his conqueror that day - Corey Cadby - is the one to get onside.

The confident Tasmanian had been chucking some excellent darts. He took some big scalps on his way to finishing runner-up in Auckland, and was only narrowly edged out by Taylor in Melbourne last week.

That took the Taylor-Cadby head-to-head to 2-2 and with the pair potentially on course to meet in the quarter-finals, on those stats alone it's hard to fathom the disparity in their prices in the outright market.

Add into the equation Cadby's finishing percentages, which have been hugely impressive of late, and this could be the tournament in which the 22-year-old comes of age.

Recommendation
C Cadby
