West could put Mensur in double trouble

Peter Wright and Mensur Suljovic are the two top seeded players left in the World Grand Prix after Gary Anderson's withdrawal was followed by a string of big-name exits.

Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis, Michael Smith and James Wade have all departed Dublin and the Irish crowd could be set for another upset.

Wade's conqueror Steve West seems to feel at home at the Citywest and he looks a cracking 13-5 shot to see off Suljovic.

It's the first to three sets in the second round, and obviously that gives more time for the cream to rise to the top, but even taking that into account West still looks a value play.

The man nicknamed Simply was a comfortable 2-0 winner over Wade in the first round despite his scoring failing to fully click into gear. He hit six out of nine finishing doubles in that contest and once again double-top proved a reliable ally on the Dublin stage.

After that victory over the Machine, the Epping chucker said he enjoys the underdog role and mentally he should be in the same position against Suljovic.

Gerwyn Price impresses more with every TV tournament appearance and he can make the quarter-finals by seeing off Benito van de Pas.

Price had a checkout percentage of almost 58 per cent against Smith in the opening round and he is capable of more than an 86 three-dart average.

Van de Pas is a capable performer but can be a little erratic at times and was let off the hook at crucial moments by Cristo Reyes in the first round.

Price hits double-top like clockwork and he looks big at a shade of odds-on to stop Big Ben.
