Suljovic can maximise chances with maximums

Peter Wright looks a man on a mission having breezed into the last four of the World Matchplay but he should expect a much tougher test from Mensur Suljovic.

Wright has made light work of Jelle Klaasen, Kim Huybrechts and Simon Whitlock in Blackpool this week - dropping only five legs in each match - as he bids to go one better than 12 months ago when he was runner-up to Phil Taylor.

But Suljovic has won seven of the last nine meetings between the pair and he has improved his average in every round.

The Austrian averaged 98 in his 16-10 quarter-final triumph over Darren Webster, who was full of confidence having dumped out world champion Rob Cross.

Suljovic has won the 180 count in all three of his matches and if he can keep finding the big scores he could put Wright under some pressure.

Snakebite averaged 101 in his demolition of Whitlock and was 16 from 21 on the doubles, but he hit three fewer 180s than the Wizard.

Wright hit only two maximums in his 11-5 first-round triumph over Klaasen and lost 3-2 in his 180s battle with Huybrechts despite running out an emphatic 11-5 winner.

Suljovic isn't a forlorn hope and he can enhance his chances by outscoring the Scot.
