Free darts tips, best bets and analysis for week three in the Premier League darts.

Where to watch

Live on Sky Sports Action from 7pm, Thursday

Peter Wright v Rob Cross

Head-to-head: Cross leads 10-7

Best bet

1pt 6-4 BoyleSports, Sky Bet

Rob Cross has never lost to Peter Wright in four Premier League showdowns, so he should be expecting to avoid defeat against the world champion in week three in Cardiff.

Two of those four meetings have ended in draws and another wouldn’t be a hugely unusual outcome at the Motorpoint Arena given that four of the first ten matches of the campaign have ended 6-6.

Wright seems to have recovered from a twisted ankle which inconvenienced him in Nottingham last Thursday. He reached two semi-finals on the Pro Tour over the weekend with a barrage of ton-plus averages.

But Voltage is playing well himself with three points from two tough games and he can get something from this match.

Jonny Clayton v Michael Smith

Head-to-head: Smith leads 5-1

Best bet

Jonny Clayton draw no bet
1pt 13-8 general

It’s Jonny Clayton’s turn to try to become the first contender to beat a Premier League regular.

Eleven have tried and 11 have failed, although Fallon Sherrock ran Glen Durrant mighty close in Nottingham last week, leading 6-4 before Duzza fought back.

The Welshman, known as The Ferret, will have the crowd on his side and is playing well enough to have beaten Michael van Gerwen at the Masters earlier this month.

This pair have played twice on TV with one win each and Bully Boy, who went on to reach the final at the Masters, is also throwing nicely.

Clayton is worth a small interest in another game that could be a close call.

Michael van Gerwen v Nathan Aspinall

Head-to-head: Van Gerwen leads 3-2

The Asp and Mighty Mike have shared the honours in floor events, though it was the Dutchman who delivered the goods when they last met on TV with a 6-3 semi-final success at the William Hill World Championship in December.

Van Gerwen was there for the taking that night but Aspinall averaged just 92 despite a barrage of 180s.

Makes you wonder if Van Gerwen, who is also playing better now than he was at Alexandra Palace, might just have the measure of the Ladbrokes UK Open champ on the big stage.

Daryl Gurney v Gerwyn Price

Head-to-head: Price leads 9-3

Best bet

Gerwyn Price most 180s
1pt 11-8 Sky Bet

Cardiff welcomes its second home hopeful and will expect to be cheering Gerwyn Price to victory against the pointless Daryl Gurney.

Superchin was superchinned by MVG last week and followed that up with a pair of first-round falls in Wigan over the weekend.

Gerwyn Price showed his renowned fight last week, coming back from the brink to snatch a point off Michael Smith, and he can get his first win on the board.

Gezzy is odds-on and rightly so, but 11-8 that the Welshman hits most 180s is preferred. He’s averaging one every 3.9 legs on TV in 2020, while Gurney has one in every 4.8.

Glen Durrant v Gary Anderson

Head-to-head: Anderson leads 1-0

Best bet

Glen Durrant draw no bet
1pt 13-10 general

The card is completed by Glen Durrant against Gary Anderson, which looks a toss-of-a-coin affair, though bookmakers prefer the Scot.

Both men are on three points and there’s not a lot in the averages. Duzza boasts a better checkout percentage despite a few issues with his finishing against Fallon Sherrock last week.

Anderson looks brilliant in flashes but Durrant’s consistency should ensure this one goes somewhere close to the distance.
