Preview
Gerwyn Price joins the William Hill World Championship action when he takes on Jamie Lewis in the second round at Alexandra Palace on Monday evening and the Iceman will be looking to freeze out his fellow Welshman.
This is a difficult match to weigh up from a punting perspective because it's tricky to fathom how Lewis will play.
Luke Woodhouse dominated a below-par Fireball for the first two sets in the first round before Lewis roared back into the game and secured a 3-2 victory.
Lewis had shown no sign of that sort of form for the past 12 months and when his game is so unpredictable, even over the course of just a single match, his chance is difficult to asses. Price is 1-6 to make it through to round three and this match looks best watched.
Ian White is a relentlessly consistent thrower on the floor, and although he has never won a a PDC major, he can comfortably see off the challenge of Kim Huybrechts.
Only Peter Wright, Michael van Gerwen, Price, Jose de Sousa and Gary Anderson are averaging more than Diamond away from the big stage this season and those numbers indicate just how good a thrower the Stoke man is.
White will still have to carry the pressure of performing on the big stage, but there's no crowd this year and that could help Diamond.
The Stoke man averaged 103.64 to beat Van Gerwen in the second round of the European Championship at the end of October and anything like that sort of performance should be too good for Huybrechts.
The Hurricane played well to beat Di Zhuang 3-0 in his first-round match, but the Chinese chucker averaged just 73.09 in that clash and there's going to be a lot more coming back from White.
Krzysztof Ratajski will be hoping to reproduce his floor form against Ryan Joyce, who was fortunate to survive against Karel Sedlacek in the first round. The prices look about right for that contest and the same applies to the all-German clash between Gabriel Clemens and Nico Kurz.
