Preview

It's day one at the Masters but there are places in round two rather than green jackets up for grabs in Milton Keynes.

It's a competitive first round with eight tightly-priced matches, which is to be expected given the arrowsmiths in action are ranked between ninth and 24th in the world.

There are a couple of 180s bets which catch the eye, however.

The first is Chris Dobey to hit more maximums than Dimitri van den Bergh.

Dancing Dimitri is overcoming a knee injury though it's the Belgian's price rather than his joints which are the talking point.

Dobey is a massive 9-5 with Boyles for most maximums and that doesn't add up. On the Pro Tour in 2020, Hollywood was averaging a 180 every 3.45 legs, Van den Bergh one every 3.95.

The other maximums bet to consider is under 41.5 day one 180s at 10-11 with bet365.

Like-for-like comparisons aren't always relevant but the last TV event featuring best-of-11 first-round matches was the Ladbrokes Players Championship Finals in November. Those matches were averaging just 4.1 maximums.

You only need one or two legs of the eight-fold to be low-scoring and one or two to be over in six legs, and 42 maxes is going to look a long way off.
