Records are there to be broken but Chris Dobey has played Michael van Gerwen ten times and lost the lot, so it's hard to be positive about his chances going into their BoyleSports World Grand Prix quarter-final in Leicester.

Dobey has earned an 11th shot at the Green Machine courtesy of a nervy 3-2 win over Adrian Lewis in round two, just before Van Gerwen made hard work of beating Stephen Bunting by the same scoreline.

Van Gerwen is finding his way back to form and a 94.3 average against Bunting is still impressive.

In that win he pinged six 180s to go with the three in his eight-leg romp past Gary Anderson in round one. And odds of 21-20 that he out-maximums Hollywood looks a decent enough price, especially if the weight of past failures starts to bear down on the underdog.

Also smashing in the maximums has been Peter Wright, another player whose form has been patchy though someone still capable of peppering the treble-20 bed when in the mood.

Snakebite amassed eight 180s in just 21 legs of action in round two against Krzyzstof Ratajski and now takes on Dimitri van den Bergh for a place in the semis. Wright, like Van Gerwen, looks overpriced in a maximums matchbet at 6-5 against the Belgian.
