Free darts tips, best bets and analysis for Wednesday's PDC Home Tour Group 27

What is the PDC Home Tour?

The PDC announced a new event to keep sport rolling during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Home Tour event starts on Friday, April 17 and will be streamed on bookmaker websites and features a host of big names.

Each session starts at 7.30 and will see four stars do battle in nightly round-robin groups which are played over the best-of-nine legs. The 32 group winners will progress through to the next phase.

Wednesday's PDC Home Tour Group 27 preview

Four previous PDC Home Tour competitors will get another chance to advance to the next phase of the home-based event and the betting suggests there's little between the quartet.

Ron Meulenkamp, edged out on leg difference by Chris Dobey in Group 14, is joined by BDO World Championship winners Steve Beaton and Scott Waites as well as Kent thrower Ross Smith.

It's possible to make a case for all four but Waites, who was unlucky to run into a rampant Dave Chisnall on the third night of Home Tour action, looks worth a bet.

Scotty 2 Hotty averaged 95.91 in defeat against Chisnall and also averaged 96.84 to beat Jonathan Worsley 5-1 on April 19 before seeing off Jan Dekker by the same scoreline.

Waites boasts a 3-0 head-to-head lead over Meulenkamp, although they haven't met in professional competition for several years, while he also edges Smith 2-1 in competitive meetings.

Surprisingly, he hasn't met Beaton before but the Bronzed Adonis will have to play better than he did when averaging 86.11 when winning just one match in Group 13 if he's to down his fellow former BDO champ.
