What is the PDC Home Tour?

The PDC announced a new event to keep sport rolling during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Home Tour event has now reached the second stage and will be streamed on bookmaker websites.

Each session starts at 7.30pm and will see four stars do battle in nightly round-robin groups which are played over the best-of-11 legs. The eight group winners will progress through to the next phase.

That last eight will be two groups of four and the top two in each will provide the four-person Championship group which will determine the overall competition winner.

Saturday's PDC Home Tour playoff Group Five preview

Rob Cross survived multiple scares to squeeze into the second phase of the PDC Home Tour but the power will be turned out on Voltage's tournament unless he improves immeasurably.

The 2018 world champion averaged just 82 across his three matches on May 7 and survived match darts in his final encounter to secure his place in the last 32.

That pales in comparison to the opponents he will face in Group Five of the Home Tour playoffs and he looks a vulnerable favourite if he is just as off the pace.

Second-favourite Ryan Searle averaged 18 points higher than Cross in his three group outings and Heavy Metal has the potential to slay his opponents.

Searle is becoming an increasingly dangerous performer on tour and beat four of this year's Premier League stars, including Michael van Gerwen in the final, to win Players' Championship Three in Wigan in February.

He takes on group favourite Cross in the fourth match of the evening and while Voltage has won each of the pair's four previous matches, this looks a prime opportunity for Searle to turn the tables on the former world champ.

Back Searle to beat Cross en route to top spot and a place in the last eight.
