Action starts 5pm Wednesday

Dave Chisnall finished the Betway Premier League campaign stronger than anyone and is worth a punt at a big price in the Dubai Masters starting Wednesday afternoon.

Chizzy is a 28-1 shot in the opening event of the World Series staged outdoors at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.

Playing outside makes this a unique contest and not one that every player enjoys, although it’s probably no surprise that Michael van Gerwen won the first three runnings. Gary Anderson pipped him to the title 12 months ago.

Chisnall has played in this eight-man competition twice before, winning his first round match each time before losing in the semis.
He goes to the desert in great form having gone unbeaten through the second half of the Premier League season, missing out on the playoffs by only two points.

He has a tough opener against Peter Wright with either Anderson or Phil Taylor awaiting in the semis but there are only ever difficult matches in such an elite field.

Van Gerwen is the 8-11 favourite, which isn’t exactly a price to go mad over given the way he rode his luck at the O2, the competitiveness of the field and the curious playing conditions.

ITV4 are showing delayed coverage with Wednesday's quarter-finals taking place from 5pm BST.
