It's the dream final at the BoyleSports World Grand Prix as the two Luke's – Humphries and Littler – get set for a titanic tungsten tussle at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester on Sunday evening.

They sit first and second in the world rankings, Humphries on top, but the odds compilers are expecting he'll be Nuked by the reigning world champion.

Mike De Decker beat Humphries in the final 12 months ago, while Littler has forced his way into the title match at the second attempt after falling to Rob Cross in round one a year ago on debut.

BoyleSports World Grand Prix final preview

A contrasting 24 hours led Luke Littler to his maiden Grand Prix final. On Friday night, he endured a compelling, if error-strewn, joust with Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals.

The Welshman appeared to be toying with Littler early on, but the teenager rallied to the cause only for both players to suffer from troubles on the doubles.

When the chips were down, Littler produced magical checkouts of 154 and 152, latterly to take the win with Price sitting on a two-darter had he failed.

It was a game Littler ought to have lost, and only his ability to produce uncanny bursts of brilliance saved him.

In the semis, Jonny Clayton was dispatched with a whole lot more authority, Littler averaging a healthy 97.26 and hitting ten 180s in a comprehensive 5-1 win.

Like a peak Stephen Hendry, there's a feeling that when Littler escapes defeat, he won't often look back in a tournament.

Humphries was electric in the early knockings of his semi-final with Danny Noppert, bursting into 3-0 and 4-1 leads, only for things to get tetchy.

There was much head-shaking from the world number one as things threatened to unravel.

This will be the sixth time the pair have met in a televised final. Humphries leads 3-2, though Littler prevailed most recently in the New Zealand Darts Masters.

The Nuke has reached the final in his second attempt in the double-start showpiece and he's clearly set on taking the trophy.

"Last year I lost in the first round of the Matchplay and this year I won it, and last year here I lost in the first round… and now I am in the final," he said following his semi-final cruise.

Littler can add this crown by a 6-4 scoreline or better.

Between them, they produced 24 maximums in the semis – Humphries with 14 and Littler with ten, despite playing ten legs fewer.

If they put on a show in Leicester, they can go through that benchmark tonight, making over 24.5 Total 180s in what could be a compelling clash a solid shout for anyone seeking fireworks and a pulsating showdown.
