Match preview

Danes have dominated the last two editions of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne - the second of two prestigious one-day races on so-called opening weekend of the cycling season.

Belgian Wout van Aert was a home winner of Saturday's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad but the Jumbo-Visma rider won't bid to double up in KBK.

Van Aert finished 22 seconds ahead of a chasing pack headed by European champion and last season's Paris-Roubaix victor Sonny Colbrelli, who looks a decent 7-1 punt to gain some compensation on Sunday.

Second place was by far Colbrelli's best finish at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and KBK has historically been his best Belgian classic - he finished third in 2018, seventh two years later and sixth last season.

With no Van Aert or Dutch ace Mathieu van der Poel, the Italian could be the man to beat if Saturday's exertions haven't taken their toll.
