Van Avermaet can continue fine form in his homeland
Flanders native could thwart world champion Sagan
Race starts 10.30am Sunday
Live on Eurosport 1 from 1.30pm
Classics season is in full swing and as was the case last year, the question is who can stop world champion Peter Sagan?
In the five one-day races he has entered this term, Sagan has finished in the first two on three occasions, so he is understandably a warm order to retain his Gent-Wevelgem title.
However, if there is one man that can rival the Slovakian superstar for early-season form it is Olympic road-race champion Greg van Avermaet.
Van Avermaet profited when Sagan was caught up in a crash at Friday's E3 Harelbeke to claim his second one-day race of the season after also winning Omlop Het Nieusweld in February.
He will be keen to put up a strong showing on his home roads across Flanders and at 14-1 may have been underestimated by the layers.
Trek-Segafredo rider Jasper Stuyven is another Belgian who could go well at a decent price.
The 24-year-old has yet to show that he is in the same form as at last season's classics but third place on stage six of Tirreno-Adriatico hinted he may be coming to hand.
