Stage eight
Starts 11.35am Saturday, Live on Eurosport 1 from 2pm

The only way is up again for the peloton as La Vuelta heads to the Costa Blanca for stage eight.

After a relatively straightforward opening 100km, the action should begin after the feed station in Villena where the riders start the first of three categorised climbs - the last of which is a first-category ascent to the finish.

That climb tops out with just under three kilometres remaining meaning positioning will be crucial.

As was the case on stage six, the general classification protagonists may fight out the finish and it could be Esteban Chaves's day.

The Colombian has come back to form in great style over the first week of the race and could close the gap of Chris Froome in the race for the red jersey.
