Greipel could give Sagan a real battle for green jersey

Peter Sagan, the world’s best all-rounder and with the rain­bow jersey to prove it, is domin­ant in this category and is heavily odds-on for a fifth cons­ec­utive win.

Short odds make little appeal in a three-week race where illness or injury may be just around the corner and, just in case he fails to finish, the each-way bet against him is Andre Greipel.

The German sprinter enjoyed his best Tour last year with four stage wins, which put him second behind Sagan in the race for the green jersey. The gap was a substantial 66 points but that was the smallest achieved by Sagan, following the rule change that accentuated the difference between stage winners and place-getters.
