Cross looks ready to boss Van Gerwen
Voltage value to avenge European Championship defeat
ITV4, from 1pm
Rob Cross is the new kid on the darts block and he looks ready to give Michael van Gerwen a shock when they clash in the quarter-finals of the Labrokes World Series.
It's a repeat of last month's European Championship final and although MVG won that contest 11-7, at 4-1 there are enough reasons to think Cross is worth backing to turn the tables.
That match was Voltage's first TV final and although Van Gerwen pulled away towards the end Cross matched him for most of the contest and the Dutchman only took control once he led 7-6.
It looks fair to suggest the Hastings hitter can improve for the experience and he should be tuned up after seeing off the in-form Kyle Anderson in the last 16 in Glasgow.
MVG looked like the MVP with an easy 6-1 second-round win over Max Hopp but that was pretty much a no contest and if the Dutchman expects Cross to roll over as the German did he could be in for a surprise.
Gary Anderson is 1-5 to see off Gerwyn Price in the second quarter-final while the final clash between 6-4 Daryl Gurney and 8-13 Peter Wright could be a cracker.
1pt 4-1 general
