The Hundred preview

Northern Superchargers have lost their first two matches in The Hundred by narrow margins and they head to Old Trafford to take on Manchester Originals without star all-rounder Ben Stokes.

Like the Originals' Jos Buttler, Stokes will leave The Hundred to join up with England's squad for next week's first Test against India and he may not be too disappointed to miss the Old Trafford fixture.

He tweeted that the pitch at the venue for Sunday's game was "horrific" as the Manchester spinners bowled out Birmingham Phoenix for just 87 on a scratchy, used surface.

One batsman who could get to grips with the challenge is Superchargers youngster Harry Brook.

The Yorkshire tyro was the highest-scoring Englishman in the T20 Blast group stage, has started his Hundred career with scores of 62 and 38, and enjoyed success against the Originals' spinners Matt Parkinson and Tom Hartley in the Blast, scoring 91 not out and 22 against Lancashire.

In the 3pm women's game, take a punt on the method of the first wicket being a stumping. That bet would have copped in the Superchargers' win at Trent Bridge on Monday, when there were three stumpings in total, and four batters were dismissed that way in Sunday's women's match at Old Trafford.
