India are 1-2 to begin their preparations for next summer's Twenty20 World Cup with victory over South Africa on Sunday.

The Proteas are third in the T20 world rankings, one place above India, but the bulk of their squad are still recovering from a disappointing ODI World Cup campaign.

With the exception of T20 captain Quinton de Kock, South Africa's top-order batsmen tended to struggle and, with no Jasprit Bumrah or Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the India side, Deepak Chahar could inflict the most damage with the ball.

Chahar only played in the last of India's three recent T20s with the West Indies but made it count with figures of 3-4 off three overs and looks like a viable top wicket-taker option.
