New Zealand and South Africa won their opening Women’s World Cup matches, but the nature of those victories and the outcome of their series last year is the reason for a huge price differential for this clash in Derby.

The White Ferns, who are 4-7 to prevail, strolled to a nine-wicket success over Sri Lanka on Saturday in Bristol. The Proteas edged a two-wicket win against Pakistan on Sunday in Leicester chasing 207.

New Zealand also won a seven-ODI series in South Africa last October 5-2 and triumphed by 151 runs when the sides met in the group stages of the 2013 World Cup in India.

Sophie Devine smashed 145 that day in Cuttack and looks a value bet at 11-2 to be the top New Zealand runscorer.

Batting at number five may be a blessing with forecast cloudy, rainy conditions likely to suit quick bowlers.

Yesterday, England, beaten by India in their first match on Saturday, smashed 377-7 from their 50 overs against Pakistan at Grace Road, Leicester.
