Michael Phelps's best chance of adding to his tally of individual medals comes in the men’s 200m individual medley, an event in which he is going for a fourth consecutive gold, and it is worth backing him at 5-6.

Perennial rival Ryan Lochte and 400m IM winner Kosuke Hagino will provide stiff opposition, but they will have to swim faster than Phelps to negate his huge advantage in the turns – he took a full body length out of his rivals during his leg of the USA’s 4x100m relay success and based on his blistering split that will be all but impossible.
