West Indies v England: day two

Stumps (day one) England 187 (Moeen Ali 60, Roach 4-30) lead West Indies 30-0 (Campbell 16 not out) by 157 runs.

Best prices 8-11 West Indies, 13-8 England, 12-1 draw.

England were brutally exposed by the West Indian quick bowlers in the first Test in Barbados and it was a similar story on day one in Antigua.

Having lost the toss, England were bowled out for 187 and even that total represented a recovery of sorts after the tourists were reduced to 93-6 soon after lunch.

Jonny Bairstow reasoned that the best strategy on a spicy, green-tinged pitch was to throw "the kitchen sink" at the bowlers and the number three hit nine fours and a six in his 52.

Moeen Ali (60), accompanied by wicketkeeper Ben Foakes (35) hauled England towards 200 but Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel returned to finish off the tail in ruthless fashion.

The West Indies openers added to England's frustration by surviving for 21 overs, albeit with plenty of playing and missing, and the tourists, 8-13 favourites at the start of the day, ended it as 13-8 shots to square the series.

Star of the day
It is hard to separate Roach and Gabriel, who shared seven wickets in another fine display from the home bowling attack.

Gabriel's pace and hostility and Roach's miserly line and length tormented England's top-order batsmen and proved too good for the tail as the visitors lost their last four wickets for nine runs.

Best bet for day two
The Windies will have been delighted to see Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell take the sting out of the England attack but there is still plenty of life in this pitch.

Any kind of first-innings lead would be welcome for the hosts and the 11-4 that their total is between 220 and 290 (inclusive) appeals.

England don't have the express pace of the Windies attack but James Anderson and Ben Stokes bowled brilliantly in the first Test and the recalled Stuart Broad was right on the money, conceding only ten runs in seven overs on the first evening.

Recommendation
West Indies to score between 220 and 290 in first innings

1pt 11-4 bet365

Weather
Light showers forecast for the afternoon, temperatures reaching 25C.
