After 14 group games and some pulsating quarter-final ties, just four counties remain in the reckoning to be crowned T20 Blast champions in 2025. 

And the quartet set to face off at Edgbaston on Saturday could not be of better pedigree, with three-time winners Hampshire joined by Somerset and Northampton, both of whom have won the title twice, and 2015 champions Lancashire.

A southern county has won five of the last six T20 Blast titles and Hampshire are fancied to continue that stranglehold on the trophy at Edgbaston on Saturday. 

Bookmakers are expecting an intriguing afternoon in Birmingham with the four semi-finalists within two points of each other in the betting, but they are in agreement that the two counties from the south, Hampshire and Somerset, are marginal favourites. 

Somerset have been made narrow market leaders and certainly have the pedigree to go the distance. This will be the Cidermen's fifth Finals Day in a row and they narrowly failed in their attempt to become the first county to defend the 20-over title when they lost the final to Gloucestershire last year.

Somerset, who play Lancashire in the first semi-final, won both of their group fixtures against Hampshire but those matches could easily have gone the way of the Hawks. 

Hampshire fell 18 runs short in their pursuit of 210 at Taunton in June while July's return fixture was even closer as Somerset chased down 179 with a single ball to spare. 

The Cidermen's impeccable timing was again on show in the quarter-finals as they again won with one ball remaining at home to Birmingham, whereas Hampshire reached an 11th Finals Day with greater comfort. 

Toby Albert, Chris Lynn and Hilton Cartwright all passed 50 as the Hawks racked up 221-5 against a decent Durham side before canny seamer Benny Howell (4-28) ensured the northern county never really threatened to get near their target.

Skipper James Vince will also be able to call on breakout star Sonny Baker at Edgbaston following his excellent summer in The Hundred for Manchester Originals and his subsequent England debut. 

Hampshire have won all three of the title deciders they have previously contested and they have all the ingredients to become the first four-time winners of the Blast on Saturday.

Absences hampering Lancs

Lancashire will make their tenth Finals Day appearance but the 2015 winners will be without three members of last Saturday's quarter-final win over Kent. 

Opener Phil Salt and Luke Wood, who took 3-29 against the Spitfires, are both away with England, as is Jos Buttler, while Australian all-rounder Ashton Turner has gone back home ahead of the domestic season down under. 

It means there is a lot resting on the shoulders of quarter-final hero Liam Livingstone. 

Overlooked by England for the ongoing series against South Africa, Livingstone smashed a 45-ball unbeaten 85 to see Lancashire home in the quarters, but Turner and Michael Jones were the only other Lancs batsmen to reach double figures.

The biggest danger to Hampshire could come from their semi-final opponents Northamptonshire. 

A rapid unbeaten ton from Ravi Bopara helped the two-time winners beat Surrey in a rain-affected last-eight clash at The Oval, but they may just lack a touch of stardust that makes the difference.
