South Africa beat Pakistan 3-2 in an intriguing one-day series and the Proteas are 4-5 favourites for the first Twenty20 international between the teams in Cape Town.

Pakistan, number one in the ICC's Twenty20 rankings, must be respected in their strongest format with vastly experienced all-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik joined by exciting youngsters Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi.

South Africa's Rassie van der Dussen made a strong impression in his first one-day series, scoring 93, 80 not out, 18 and 50 not out in four innings.

Van der Dussen made 56 against Zimbabwe in his first Twenty20 international last October and looks a big price to top-score in the series opener.

He played some stunning 20-over knocks for domestic franchise Jozi Stars in December, including 96 not out off 44 balls against Tshwane Spartans and 59 not out in the final of the Mzansi Super League at Newlands, venue for this clash with Pakistan.
