Southern Brave vs Welsh Fire preview 

Welsh Fire Men blew a great chance of victory against Southern Brave in Cardiff last week but they can make amends in Thursday's return fixture at the Rose Bowl.

Neither team can qualify for the playoffs and the Brave, who have lost four of their last five games, look vulnerable favourites against a Fire side featuring Jonny Bairstow, Steve Smith and classy fast bowlers Matt Henry, Riley Meredith and David Payne.

The Brave, the joint-lowest six-hitters in the competition, won by four runs at Sophia Gardens. However, they benefited from a spectacular collapse from the Fire, who were cruising at 45-1 off 21 balls in pursuit of a target of 130.

Southern Brave Women are on the brink of a perfect league campaign and they should make it eight wins out of eight against bottom-of-the-table Welsh Fire.

Already assured of a place in Sunday's final at Lord's, the Brave will not want to let their standards slip and opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge can lead from the front.

The England batter scored 59, 43 and 26 in her first three innings at the Rose Bowl and she looked in ominous form in the away game against the Fire before being dismissed by an excellent Jess Jonassen catch for 18.
