1 Muguruza is a massive threat
Garbine Muguruza lost out against Serena Williams in the 2015 final but the Spaniard produced a terrific performance to down Angelique Kerber.

Muguruza was broken twice in the third set by the number one seed but showed incredible determination to fight back before winning the marathon match.

The Court Two contest was of huge quality, which contrasted to the way that both players have played for much of the season, and is probably only rivalled by Konta v Vekic for match of the tournament in the women’s draw.

2 Federer remains in imperious form
Many had billed Roger Federer’s fourth-round match with Grigor Dimitrov as the seven-time champion’s first serious test as he tries to win a first Wimbledon title since 2012 but the Swiss legend turned the match into an exhibition.

Dimitrov had not dropped a set in posting victories over Diego Schwartzman, Marcos Baghdatis and Dudi Sela but the Bulgarian was unable to stop Federer, who broke serve at opportune moments and rarely looked threatened on his own delivery.

Any bookmakers who dared to ease the 35-year-old in the outright betting must be regretting their actions.

3 Still time for Garcia to become a force
Caroline Garcia lost her fourth-round match against Johanna Konta but the Frenchwoman is starting to produce on the big stages.

The 23-year-old has frustrated punters for a few years now but she looked to have turned a corner at the French Open as she relished playing in front of a home crowd and she has brought that confidence to SW19.

Garcia has equalled or bettered her best showing in each of the last three Grand Slams and it may soon be time to consider her as a genuine contender for many of the WTA’s bigger tournaments.
