Johanna Konta will feel as if the world owes her one after she was bustled out of last week’s WTA Championships in Singapore by Svetlana Kuznetsova and it will be a surprise if Sam Stosur finds enough to thwart the British number one in her China opener on Wednesday.
Konta is short-priced to win the match, so the best way to support her could be to grasp the nettle and back her on the total-games handicap. She is 8-11 to successfully concede a start of 3.5 games and given how fired up she is likely to be after having to watch from the sidelines last week, that could be the way to go.
