Davis Cup colleagues and friends John Isner and Jack Sock could have a major say in the way the Citi Open, which starts today, pans out but the pair could be a little jaded after their exertions in Oregon this weekend.

The pair were facing tense singles rubbers against Croatia in Portland last night and their World Group quarter-final efforts could serve to count against them as the week draws on in Washington DC.

With than in mind, it could be worth backing Bernard Tomic to enjoy the return to hard-court action after the Australian showed better focus under the watchful eye of advisor and former world number one Lleyton Hewitt at Wimbledon.
