Jared Donaldson registered the biggest win of his career by taking out 12th seed David Goffin 4-6 7-5 6-4 6-0 in the US Open first round on Tuesday and the American teenager has every chance of making further progress at the expense of Serbia’s Viktor Troicki today.

Donaldson’s success over Goffin – his first over a player ranked in the top 30 – was considered a surprise but was merely a continuation of an impressive summer for the 19-year-old.
