Sydney Thunder v Brisbane Heat preview

Since winning their 2022-23 season opener against Melbourne Stars, Sydney Thunder have been in a downward spiral in the Big Bash League, losing their last three matches.

Their first loss was that infamous 124-run thrashing by Adelaide Strikers, who bowled them out for a humiliating 15, and that was followed by a defeat to Melbourne Renegades and another loss to the Strikers.

That result leaves Thunder rooted to the foot of the standings and they must pick themselves up ahead of the visit of Brisbane Heat.

Brisbane started the season with back-to-back defeats to the Renegades, failing to win the second meeting despite a hat-trick from bowler Michael Neser.

But they picked up their first win of the season against Adelaide last time out, prevailing by six runs.

Mark Steketee was the pick of their bowlers on that occasion, finishing with figures of 4-34 to take his wickets tally for the season to seven.

Steketee is a veteran of the Big Bash League with 85 wickets to his name since first turning out for Heat in the 2013-14 season and he can pick up a couple of scalps against a fragile Thunder line-up.
