Sydney Sixers v Sydney Thunder preview

Sydney Sixers have already booked their spot in the Big Bash playoffs but they won't lack motivation to win Saturday's Sydney Smash against the Thunder.

Steve Smith's second T20 century of his career helped the Sixers get the better of Adelaide Strikers last time out, meaning they have won eight of their 12 matches this season and are assured of a knockout berth with two regular-season matches still remaining.

The Sixers are set to progress to the qualifiers stage of the playoffs, giving them two chances to reach the final, but they will want to ensure they keep up the winning mentality with more important matches on the horizon.

And there is no reason to think the Sixers cannot get the job done - they have won their last four matches, including a six-run triumph over champions Perth Scorchers on Sunday.

The Thunder, meanwhile, have had a decent campaign but three defeats in their last four matches doesn't inspire much confidence ahead of this SCG match-up, which should go the way of the confident Sixers.
