Sunrisers Hyderabad finished bottom of the Indian Premier League table last season and they are outsiders to win their opening game of the 2022 campaign against a promising Rajasthan Royals side.

The Sunrisers lost 11 of their 14 matches in 2021 and released star players David Warner and Rashid Khan as part of a squad overhaul. Much may depend on the form of West Indies batsman Nicholas Pooran, who managed just 85 runs in 12 innings for Punjab Kings last season.

Pooran's international displays since then suggest he is overpriced to top-score against the Royals. He has reached 20 in each of his last ten T20 internationals, scoring five half-centuries including 61, 62 and 61 in three matches against India in Kolkata in February.

The Royals are 8-11 to make a winning start, having retained England opener Jos Buttler and snapped up ace India spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the player auction.
