Sunday's Big Bash preview

After losing their first two matches of the 2022-23 Big Bash season, Sydney Sixers are on the charge and bookmakers are keeping them onside for Sunday's clash with Brisbane Heat.

The Sixers were Big Bash champions in 2020 and 2021 before losing to Perth Scorchers in last year's final and they are just 4-7 to see off the Heat, who have lost four of their first five games this season.

The Sydney franchise are bidding for a fifth straight victory after back-to-back wins over Melbourne Renegades, who posted meagre scores of 115 all out and 124-7 against the Sixers.

Things may not improve for the Renegades when they host the Scorchers in Sunday's first match as the 2021-22 champions have started their title defence in fine style.

Fast bowler Jhye Richardson took 4-25 against Melbourne Stars on Thursday, setting up a fourth win in five matches for the Scorchers and the Perth batsmen have also impressed, scoring 229-7 – comfortably the highest total of the season – in their first win over the Stars on December 23.
