Match preview

Sri Lanka won all three of their first-round matches, bowling out the Netherlands for just 44 in the third game, before an impressive Super 12 victory over Bangladesh.

However, the Lankans struggled with the step up in class against Australia last time out and Aaron Finch's side completed a comfortable seven-wicket win with three overs to spare.

It could be a similar story when Sri Lanka face South Africa, who thumped them 3-0 in last month's Twenty20 series on the Teardrop Isle, gave Australia a real scare in their first game and eased to an eight-wicket win over the West Indies on Tuesday.

Their build-up to that game was disrupted by Quinton de Kock's withdrawal after refusing to take a knee but the opener is again available for selection and South Africa should be backed to make a strong start, with or without him.

In September's series in Sri Lanka they posted opening stands of 73, 62 and 121 and a first-wicket runs line of 20.5 looks well within their capability.
