Royal Challengers Bangalore face Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League playoff eliminator and both teams should be confident after strong finishes to the league stage of the tournament.

Bangalore won four of their last five regular-season matches while KKR effectively sealed their playoff spot with a thumping 86-run win over Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah.

The eliminator takes place at the same venue and bookmakers are struggling to pick a favourite. Australia middle-order ace Glenn Maxwell is 4-1 to top-score for Bangalore after knocks of 51, 40, 57, 50 and 56 in his last five appearances.

However, Kolkata opener Shubman Gill has also hit form, scoring back-to-back half-centuries in his final two league games and making an important 30 in a low-scoring win over table-topping Delhi Capitals in Sharjah.

Gill also struck 48 off 34 balls in Abu Dhabi last month when the Knight Riders trounced Bangalore by nine wickets with ten overs to spare.
