Match preview

Pakistan beat rivals India in remarkable fashion on Sunday, chasing down a target of 152 without losing a wicket against the T20 World Cup ante-post favourites.

While that margin of victory was a shock, the identity of Pakistan's matchwinners came as less of a surprise as prolific openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan followed up a stunning new-ball spell from paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The left-armer took out India's openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in his first two overs on Sunday and he may well deliver another early breakthrough against New Zealand, whose senior opener Martin Guptill has struggled in the UAE.

Afridi dismissed Guptill in the first match of the Kiwis' 2-1 T20 home series win over Pakistan last December and Rizwan scored 89 in the final game of that series, kickstarting an astonishing run of form at the top of the order.

The wicketkeeper has reached 50 in ten of his last 16 T20 international innings and his opening partner Babar averages 48 in the format so backing Pakistan to post a higher first-wicket stand looks a decent bet.
